Christian Lozano Sedano

Mexican guitarist Christian Lozano obtained his performance degree at the National Institute of Fine Arts in Mexico City’s Escuela Superior de Música, studying with Leticia Alba. He then continued his studies with guitarist Juan Carlos Laguna.

In 2006, he pursued further studies in Switzerland with guitarist Pablo Márquez at the Musik Akademie Basel, where he obtained the Konzertdiplom as well as a Master’s in Music Pedagogy. During his studies, he was awarded the prestigious “Swiss Government Excellence Scholarship.”


From an early stage in his career, Christian demonstrated a keen interest in contemporary music, exploring its unique challenges and expressive possibilities. This interest eventually led him to collaborate with the Strasbourg-based collective lovemusic, which specializes in contemporary repertoire. lovemusic was awarded the prestigious Ernst von Siemens Prize in 2025. Christian has worked closely with renowned composers such as Helmut Oehring, Laura Bowler, Sylvain Martin, Malin Bång, Sasha Blondeau, Santiago Díez Fischer, David Bird, Kelley Sheehan, and Erin Gee.


Christian has participated in masterclasses and courses in early music, improvisation, and contemporary music with renowned teachers such as Abel Carlevaro, Paul Galbraith, Stephan Schmidt, Hopkinson Smith, Eduardo Fernández, Magnus Andersson, Fred Frith, and Pablo Gómez.


He has performed in concert halls across Mexico, France, Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, the UK, Ireland, Scotland, England, Paraguay, Portugal, and the USA. His performances have also brought him to leading festivals, including the Wittener Tage für Neue Kammermusik, Huddersfield Contemporary Music Festival, Donaueschinger Musiktage, Gaudeamus Festival, CHIMEfest, and Musica (Strasbourg).
In 2006, Christian performed the Paraguayan premiere of the celebrated Concierto del Sur by Mexican composer Manuel M. Ponce with the Orquesta Sinfónica de Asunción.


Currently based in Basel, Switzerland, Christian regularly performs as a soloist and in chamber music. He also teaches guitar at the Musikschule Riehen and the Musik Akademie Basel.
